What size marquee do I need?

We will advise you on what size marquee will be suitable for your event but a little understanding of how we determine this should prove more than helpful as there's nothing worse than having a marquee too big or too small for your event.

For a buffet event we recommend a minimum of 8 square feet per person and a minimum of 15 square feet per person for a seated event. After that add in space for dance floors, staging, bar, disco/band, catering area, other entertainment area (Fun casino, inflatable, rodeo bull etc) increasing space between tables for comfort, reception areas and so on. As you lose this space for guests the capacity reduces and subsequently the marquee size should increase to accommodate this.

You also need to consider if the number of guests will increase during your event. Especially relevant for weddings when more people attend the evening celebrations. This will usually give you a rough idea of your space requirements. If you are in any doubt then please call and we will be happy to advise you.

For Corporate events or Exhibitions the size of Marquee will depend on a number of factors including:

• Venue Available
• rented space
• Size/Type of equipment exhibited
• Expected number of guests/clients

Below are some examples of what can be done. However, we know that every event is different and we work with you to achieve the very best layout in the space available.

This diagram shows a 60' x 30' (18m x 9m) marquee suitable for a seated wedding reception for 85 guests. It includes space for tables (8 guests per table for comfort), chairs, top-table, cake stand, dance floor, bar and disco. This is one of our most popular sizes for a family wedding. It caters for an all day wedding reception with ample capacity for further guests to arrive in the evening.

This diagram shows a 40' x 20' (12m x 6m) marquee suitable for a seated wedding reception for 60. It includes space for tables (8 guests per table for comfort), chairs, top-table, cake stand, dance floor, bar and disco.

This diagram shows a large 70' x 30' (21m x 9m) marquee suitable for a seated Wedding reception for 110. It includes space for tables (8 guests per table for comfort), chairs, top-table, cake stand, dance floor, bar and disco. This size of marquee has many options with regards to the style and internal layout. It is suitable for a large daytime wedding reception where lots of guests are expected in the evening.

All the above marquees can have additions such as:

• Covered walkways leading to the entrance
• Catering tent - either attached to the main marquee on any side or separated
• An entrance porch
• Separate seating/relaxing areas
• Covered walkways leading to luxury toilet facilities.
